I Want to Host a Visitor, What Now? A Guide to Inviting Visiting scholars to MSU

Location

301 Research Boulevard, Room 813 In-person Only

Presented by Veronika Jelinkova, Assistant Security Coordinator, Office of Research Compliance & Security

MSU regularly welcomes visitors to campus to contribute to research activities. These visitors, who typically remain in the employ of their companies or institutions while here, provide knowledge and new perspectives on academic research. Known as “Visiting Scholars", they do not receive compensation, insurance coverage, housing or other employee benefits from MSU, nor are they enrolled as students. They come here to collaborate on research, often in one or more campus laboratories. This program will provide guidance on MSU's visiting scholars polices and procedures directly from the Office of Research Compliance and Security staff.

Why you should attend: ORC&S will share information on internal processes for inviting visiting scholars to MSU.  Learn how to request and host a visitor on campus while staying in compliance with federal regulations and academic policies.

Who should attend: Faculty and staff who are instrumental in helping with the visiting scholar process in their department, and those within the university community who wish to learn more about these issues.
