National Research Administrators Day
National Research Administrators Day is observed annually on September 25.
Research administrators are the professionals who support the entire lifecycle of a sponsored project, from development and submission, to compliance and fiscal management, and who play a significant role in ensuring the smooth functioning of the university's research enterprise at both the unit and central levels. This forum will honor and celebrate the contributions of MSU's RA community, as well offer industry-recognized (RACC) professional development credit to this group. Breakout sessions will be offered for early career and seasoned administrators as well as joint sessions for networking and updates on polices, processes, and regulations from sponsors and MSU. Lunch will be provided, as well as fun activities and chances to win doorprizes!
ORED is considering launching a formal mentoring professional development program for Research Administrators. We are seeking input and ideas for best practices for such a program as well as interest from both potential mentors and mentees.
Who should attend? Professional and support staff who "touch" an externally-sponsored project at any point in its development or implementation: For example: central or unit-based business managers, grants and contracts administrators/specialists, technology management specialists, research administrators, sponsored projects accountants, compliance, security, and animal resources specialists/officers, officers and project managers.
A CEU credit certificate will be available at the end of the day for those administrators that need CRA, CPRA, CFRA hours.
The deadline to register for this event is noon Tuesday, September 17, 2024.
